The Worship Leader is a Spiritual Leader

Filed under: Religion Tips + More — admin at 12:37 pm on Friday, October 31, 2008

This article is for worship leaders. And as such, I believe it needs to focus on leadership skills. It is my intent to do this from a Biblical perspective. The only prerequisite for leadership is you must have somebody follow you. I can be just one person or thousands. The definition is still the same - A leader must have someone following them.

Understand That You are a Spiritual Leader

But there is more to leadership than having people follow you. In the Body of Christ you are a not just a leader. You are a Spiritual Leader. Your leadership skills must be in alignment with spiritual ideals.

Spiritual Leader Defined…

A Leader is someone who is called by God with God given capacities and God given responsibility to serve a specific group of God’s people directing them in God’s purpose for that group to bring glory to God.

Now that is a powerful! Go back and read that again. As a matter of fact go ahead and memorize that statement. It is the basis for the rest of this article. It is an important statement that will help you understand your place as a worship leader.

Now what I want to do is break that statement down. There are six important points that I will cover with you. Let’s begin with the first point…

God’s Calling

1 Samuel 3: 8-17 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever. And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision. Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I. And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.

The ministry is a calling from God to do His work. God’s works through His people. He equips them with the proper tools. Things like temperament, abilities, talents and Spiritual Gifts. I believe that every Christian has a specific call in their life to serve God in the ministry. Our focus is of course in the area of music and how that relates to the church. Along with the ability to perform music there needs to be a calling. Let me pose a question to you. Can someone with extreme musical talents not be called to lead a group of people in worship? Yes, it is possible for a talented musician or singer to not be called to become a worship leader. They could very well be called to another ministry. That is of course God’s decision and each individuals responsibility to do what God call them to do.

There are two types of people in the ministry. Those that are called by God to do His work. And those who are attempting to do God’s work yet are not called. Seems rather obvious. But it does happen on occasion that someone is assigned to do a task in the church without regard to any calling on that individual’s life. This usually happens when “The laborer are few”. It is important to note - Unless you are truly called you will be frustrated and discouraged. Your ministry will be ineffective.

How do you know you are called? That is an age-old question and it’s up to you to discover whether you are called or not. Just so you know - I believe that every Christian is called to ministry in one way or another. Each person has a place in the body. There is a perfect fit for every Christian believer. God has purpose for your life. It is you job to allow God to reveal it to you.

Make sure that God has actually called you into your ministry. A good indication of your call is found in your natural inclinations, abliities and attitudes. Which leads us to the next point…

God Given Capacity

Each of us is given the ability to touch people’s lives with the Gospel message. God does this through individuals like you and me. God given capacity is made up of two parts. One part is natural ability and the other part is Spiritual Gifts.

Natural Ability — the tools God uses to glorify Him

The natural ability covers the scope of our intellect and physical prowess. We may be a great mathematical thinker, superior at throwing a ball or a technically skilled musician. From the first day we are born we discover things that we are good at doing. We enjoy the success we have at doing them. And because we enjoy these activities we continue to practice, study and learn about these things. Eventually it becomes a part of our identity. Our Natural ability is the tool by which God can work through us to effect His Kingdom. As a worship leader your tool is music.

Spiritual Gifts — the method He uses to execute His purpose

The day you received Christ into you life as Savior you not only received the awesome gift of salvation, you also received Spiritual Gifts. Every Christian has at least one. The gift He gives you can be small or it can be grand, a gift none the less. Whatever the amount is unimportant, what is important is that you use your spiritual gifts to its fullest potential. Be thankful for the Spiritual Gifts you have.

Now some will debate whether music is a gift. I tend to believe that music is a tool rather than a gift. You are able to take our Spiritual Gift and apply it to music. If you are a teacher - use music to teach. If you are an evangelist - then use music the evangelize.

The best way to learn about spiritual gifts is by reading the Bible. Reading and learning should be helpful in the discovery of your spiritual gifts. First read the following bible verses:

Romans 12:4-8
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
1 Corinthians 12:27-30
Ephesians 4:7-12
1 Peter 4:7-11

Each of these verses categorizes each gift that makes up the Church body. Each one is important.

God Given Responsibility

Matthew 25:13-29 Tells is a story about a man who gave his servant each a talent according to their individual ability. Two out of the three invested their talent and it grew. The third one who happened to have the smallest portion did nothing with his talent. This did not please the man in the story. What I glean from this is that we are responsible to take what God gives us in talent and use it.

Responsibility is about stewardship. Stewardship is the effective management of the resources that God gives us. It is a matter of “taking care of business” for the Kingdom. In the kingdom of God you have no rights. That’s the opposite of our society today. We are led to believe that our rights are paramount in everything. But, in reality God has given us worship leaders a responsibility. The Bible makes it clear that we are to be “Doers of the Word”. Responsibility requires commitment to do what God has called you to do.

We can look at the parable of the talents and see that God requires us to be responsible steward of what He has given us. The main lesson here is that you must take what God has given you and make it profitable for Him. Otherwise there will be severe consequences. You have spiritual gifts and natural abilities. Now it’s time to take those gifts and use them for God purpose. Of course, nothing is done in a vacuum. Therefore you must take responsibility for your action. Both good and bad.

To serve a specific group of people

John 13:13-15 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Jesus was the perfect example of a servant. He washed the feet of the disciples. This was a radical move on the part of Jesus. The lowest person on the social scale did the washing of feet. It was Jesus who came to serve us. And by His example we are to serve others.

Look around you - Who do you see? People! At least I hope that your church has some people in it. This is your specific group of people. God in His wisdom and Glory placed you in the exact spot that He chose for you to minister.

Now we can examine the people a little closer. There are big one and small ones - There are young ones and old ones - There are men and there are women. People come in all shapes and sizes.

Moses was called by God to serve a specific group of people. He took the Israelites out of Egypt and delivered them to the Promised Land. As you know there were a few snags along the way that caused these people to wander in the desert for forty years. But, these were the exact people that Moses was created to serve.

As a worship leader in your church, you have a responsibility to serve that group of people for the season of time God keeps you there. Spiritual Leaders are servants to those around them. Jesus was the perfect example of this.

Directing this group of people toward God’s Purpose

Help people become effective tools for the Kingdom - do these three things…

1. Help them to Discover their place in the Body of Christ

2. Help Them Develop spiritually

3. Help them Deploy their place in the church.

Three things to remember…
Discover -> Develop -> Deploy
Once you know your team member’s individual Spiritual Gifts it is your responsibility to help nurture those gifts. Discipleship is key in the development phase.

Nothing is worse than unrealized talent. Or talent that is wasted sitting on the shelf. Therefore it is vital that each person deploy. That is “go into all the world.” You see someone with a calling on their life; you do a disservice to the church by hindering the execution of that part.

To Bring Glory to God

The ultimate Goal it to bring Glory to God. As musician it is tempting to pursue ego gratification. Your performance in judged not by how well you did - It’s based on how well you related to God and His purpose. The object of your worship is God. It is our job to take our Gifts and Talents and use them to give God glory.

There are entertainers and there are worship leaders. Each one has a different objective. An entertain often times bring glory to themselves. And music is entertaining. Yet it is also a tool used by God to be used by the Church to worship Him. There is a distinct dividing line between doing something by our own strength or allowing God to do it.

You bring glory to God when you die to self and serve the people with song. You bring glory to God when the people are able to focus on their Creator and Savior. In many respects you are a tour guide. Helping people to have an intimate relationship.

The Use of Mysticism in The Song of Songs

Filed under: Religion Tips + More — admin at 9:03 am on Friday, October 31, 2008

The Use and Abuse of Mysticism in the Song of Songs:

The incorporation of Aristotelian thought into the dogma of Catholicism was not the first attempt to have alchemy co-opted or hermeneutically imbued into the whole system of thought. The fact that Aquinas did this under the tutelage of a Dominican Bishop who is regarded as the forbear of Goethe and Illuminized thought has not escaped me. Frater Albertus Magnus is a name still to be reckoned with in the present day as a person by that name heads the International Alchemical group in Salt Lake City. The fact that Melchizedek and Solomon or others in the family of Jesus are adept esotericists and alchemists should not surprise any real scholar. But let us assume Jesus had good intentions and later scriptural or priestly manipulators sought to bring his real and deep understanding more completely into the Christian model of spiritual growth. Here is a report from Pelikan about a fraud or attempt to do this which was accepted as church dogma for a millennium until the Thomist ideologues made the great furtherance of this under the Jesuit teaching system.

“… can all be traced to Proclus, the great systematizer of Neoplatonism in the fifth century C.E.; and through him much of it goes back to Plotinus, and ultimately even to Plato himself. Although both Plotinus and Proclus were critics of Christianity, they also owed much to it; {Which might have to do with Christianity having borrowed much from the school of thought they were part of.} and, in turn, their Christian opponents shared much of their Neoplatonism with them, especially these very elements of the mystical vision.

Therefore it did not come as a shock when, in the sixth century, there appeared a corpus of Greek writings that seemed to have blended Christian and Neoplatonic elements almost indiscriminately and that bore the name of Dionysius the Areopagite. This Dionysius was, in the report of the Acts of the Apostles, the only man named together with the women who ‘joined and believed’ {Thus it is likely that the Dianistic or people who saw what was happening to women in the behemoth of Constantinism were motivated to try to correct things a little.} at Athens in response to the preaching of the apostle Paul; {Today there are many scholars who say the Epistles to Timothy once thought to be the work of Paul are not the work of Paul.} by the second century he seems to have been known as the first bishop of the Christian church at Athens; in the sixth century he suddenly produced this massive collection of Christian Neoplatonic speculations; and in the ninth century he came to be identified with Saint Denis, patron saint of France and third-century bishop of Paris.(5) {Eusebius is mentioned in his Biblio. Eusebius is a merchant and purchaser of the bishopric of Paris, I believe. The matter of intrigue from far away Turkey and the Basilidae there who are part of the Semites like Sargon requires more research on my part but I suspect this is another example of the Benjaminite/Maccobean/Elephantine/Rothschild/De Medicis continuum and their desires at work.} Certified as it was with such impressive and all-but-apostolic credentials, the thought of Pseudo-Dionysius was accepted as authentic almost without dissent in the sixth century, and it retained its authoritative position, again almost without dissent, for an entire millennium, not being seriously challenged until the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.” (6)

There is no question as to Plato being a noble and an alchemist. The matter of his connection to the Sargon lineage and Hyksos in Egypt where his relative Critias was a priest is a matter of suspicion I continue to track and wonder about. For a certainty I do find the esoteric precursor to Hegelian dialectic by these alchemists does exist. I would refer a serious researcher to the chortling done by Fulcanelli about the inculcation of alchemic rituals and symbols into Christendom that can be found in his book on the Cathedrals which the Templars did build atop Druidic or pagan sites.

“Although Pseudo-Dionysius was undoubtedly the source for much of it, a major inspiration of Christ-mysticism was the interpretation of the Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon{Key to study by Masons today}) as a Christian allegory. As most scholars would agree today, be they Jewish or Roman Catholic or Protestant, the Song was originally a poem celebrating the love between man and woman. But throughout its history it has in fact been read allegorically, and it may even be that it came into the Jewish canon that way. Defending its canonicity at the council of Jamnia in 90 C.E., which stabilized the canon of the Hebrew Bible, the celebrated Rabbi Aqiba declared: ‘The whole world is not worth the day on which the Song of Songs was given to Israel, for all the Scriptures are holy, but the Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies.’ From this interpretation comes the rule promulgated by the rabbis: ‘He who trills his voice in chanting the Song of Songs in the banquet house and treats it as a sort of song has no part in the world to come.” (7)

Such is the nature of exclusionary elitism so prevalent in this foul cultus along with its fellow Judaeo/Christian/Islamic kin that continue to breed Armageddon and Rapture end games and wars, as if that is somehow what G-d might want.

The Occultation or Usurpation of Religion and the Zohar:

“An English version of the Zohar, a guiding text of Jewish mysticism, offers new insights.
- By David van Biema
-TIME Magazine: April 19, 2004 issue

The road winds like a Talmudic discourse, first one way and then another, up toward Daniel Matt’s home in the Berkeley, California, hills. ‘There’s a more direct route that my wife likes’, admits Matt, 53. ‘But I find this one more interesting.’

That’s not surprising. Matt is embarked on a solo journey through one of the most influential and maddeningly difficult works in the history of religious literature. After six years of his labor, Stanford University Press has published the first two books of his translation of the Zohar, the wellspring of Jewish mysticism, or Cabala. He will do nine more volumes, all rendered from the Zohar’s original Aramaic. The work has received ecstatic advance reviews (’A superbly fashioned translation and a commentary that opens up the Zohar to the English-speaking world’, blurbed lit-crit colossus Harold Bloom), and two weeks ago it won a $10,000 Koret Jewish Book Award for ‘monumental contribution to the history of Jewish thought’. Beneath the praise runs an undercurrent of awe that someone was crazy enough to take on the job.

The Zohar’s elusiveness dates to its appearance in the Spanish region of Castile around 1280. Written in Aramaic, a language Jews had not composed in for centuries, the book was attributed to a great rabbi of a millennium earlier. But in fact, in the 1930s scholars determined that it was penned by one Moses de Leon and his associates in the 13th century.

De Leon had every reason to fake his work’s pedigree: the Zohar was far too radical to be accepted without a fabricated imprimatur. An utterly original 1,800-page mix of Torah commentary, parody, erotic poetry, numerology and experimental narrative devices, it crams some 400 subplots into a Chaucer-like {Chaucer is an alchemist too.} tale of a band of traveling sages. The book’s form alone, says Matt, is ‘a challenge to the normal workings of consciousness.’

Its theology is wilder still nothing less than the division of God’s personality, which Judaism had always seen as a unity, into 10 interacting emanations, two of them female. One of these, the Shekhinah, was the Zohar’s obsession, the portal through which it pulled believers willy-nilly into the divine drama. Only their prayer and good deeds could save her from hordes of demons and effect her mystic marriage to God’s male aspect, a reunion described in sometimes erotic detail. ‘Without arousal below’, de Leon noted, ‘there is no arousal above.’

Remarkably, his book caught on. By 1600 the Jewish world saw the Zohar as its third holiest text, preceded only by the Bible and the Talmud. Cabalistic study and meditation flourished, and zoharic principles formed the basis of Hasidic Judaism. The Zohar’s use faded as Judaism absorbed the just-the-facts influence of the European Enlightenment, but it left behind dramatic mementos such as the Bar Mitzvah coming-of-age celebration and the gorgeous Friday-evening song welcoming God’s “Sabbath bride”. The Zohar also informs the current Cabalistic resurgence, so fascinating to Jews and spiritual adventurers like Madonna. And this created new demand for an authoritative English version.

Enter Matt. By 1995 he had taught Jewish mysticism at the university level, written a book comparing Cabala and scientific cosmology, and translated some Zohar excerpts. Nevertheless he was stunned when Margot Pritzker, wife of the chairman of the Hyatt Corp., who was studying the book, offered to bankroll a full translation. ‘I told her, optimistically, that it might take 18 years’, Matt says. ‘And she said, ‘You’re not scaring me.”

The result is not for everybody. From its opening, an extended discourse on the image of a rose in the Song of Songs (”Just as a rose has 13 petals, so Assembly of Israel has 13 qualities of compassion on every side”), the first volume only plunges further into esoterica. Matt’s commentary, which offers tidbits about ancient water clocks and the silkworm’s arrival in Spain, along with his exegesis of mystical concepts, is often twice as long as his translation. Yet there are those eager to use it. Says Samuel Cohon, a Tucson, Arizona, rabbi who has ordered 40 copies at his congregants’ request: ‘I thought; ‘It’ll be too hard’. But there’s a great desire to get at the source. If this is a profound text, then let’s see why.’

Matt still has the slightly dazed look of an Ahab whose white whale has arrived un-hunted. He hopes to finish his task by age 70. It’s not time that he will regret. ‘When I wake up, it’s all I want to do’, he says. ‘I feel like I’m inside De Leon’s mind now. I know the tricks he’s up to. And he’s a genius. This is the most astounding book in Judaism.’ It is a judgment his own work makes even clearer.” (7)

I am open to the possibility that the knowledge or tricks he finds are in the Zohar and De Leon’s mind are long-standing knowledge systems which had been kept secret by the likes of the Tartessians of Spain and Southern France in a line of schools going back to pre-Christian eras. I have many inter-connections which have been made in other books and we have again touched a few of them in regards to the Templars and Rennes-le-Chateau in this book.

The Emmaus Journal - “The Path”

I use to wonder why so many of the Lord’s people could believe or behave the way they did. I use to hear and participate in endless discussions of why this Church believed one thing and another Church believed another. No two groups of Christians appeared the same from doctrines to beliefs! There were such diversities among all us Christians! Many times all the talk led me into more confusion and distrust. Many times it left me doubting my own relationship with Jesus; and worse yet, doubting an-others relationship with Jesus.

What I could not seem to grasp was why our Lord allowed all these differences to remain! Didn’t Jesus know how they all looked as His Disciples? Didn’t Jesus care how they all reflected on Him? To make matters worse, no one seemed to have any answers either. The few answers that were shuffled around never seemed to satisfy MY Discipleship or beliefs. It instead, seemed like everyone was jockeying for some position within the Kingdom either here on Earth or in the Heavenly’s.

This went on for a few years without any spiritual solution or personal resolution. At times when I felt more spiritual myself, I would try to present some ‘religious cliche’ as an answer. But, never any answer that reveals the real Truth that sets you free.

One morning, while again, quietly pondering such things with the Lord, the answer came. The truth appeared! In front of me I saw a Path. This Path stretched from horizon to horizon. The path curved and weaved its way into hills, valleys, and mountains. A well worn Path is was, it could not be mistaken for anything else. It cut it’s way thru the entire landscape and forged its way into pleasant meadows and glens, forests, and even deserts. A Path for one and a Path for all. Yet the Path always seemed to remain relatively narrow.

As I continued to focus on this picturesque Path, I began to see people. Many people, and all kinds of people! Yet the Path was not crowded and there was plenty of room for more people. Seeing so many people I noticed certain individuals and groups. All were plainly dressed in long nondescript robes and all generally appeared the same age, yet not old or young. Each distinctly still had their own individual appearance.

Looking still closer, I began to see some carrying on conversations with each other. Large groups on the Path, talking and walking; smaller groups on the Path, talking and walking also. Each group was totally engrossed in enjoyable conversations as they walked on the Path together. I can even remember How I wished to join up with them just to hear what was being said.

But then as I looked along the Path I noticed a few scattered here and there that were totally alone. Some walking alone, some sitting on the Path’s side, all alone. It looked like a few were just plain tired and had sat down to rest. Then I noticed others so alone they had helplessly sat down and started crying. Tears falling as others walked on by. Once in awhile a hand would reach out to one and immediately that one would jump up and start walking again as the two clasped hands and continued on together. Then there were a few who never moved from the Path’s side where they had settled down. These few people seemed to cry and cry and cry, a continuous flow of tears. So great was their weeping that I wondered why? Looking a bit closer I knew that such burdens within has caused their hearts to cry out in distress, since it could no longer bear the grief. So such cryings were their only relief.

Upon seeing such sorrows, I had to look away and immediately my attention was caught by a loud commotion arising from another group on the Path. A whole crowd was laughing and joking and back- slapping, like there was no tomorrow. The noise attracted such attention that more and more people were being drawn to it like a magnet. Some out of curiosity, some just following the one’s in front of them. Many stragglers joined the raucous group as if they had nothing better to do. What a sight to behold! As the crowds got bigger and bigger, it seemed to center around one individual person. Each time this person spoke all would cheer wildly and wave their hands and arms, like spectators at a game. The excitement actually filled the air and everyone was enthralled in the mesmerizing atmosphere.

Looking over this great grouping I happened to see afar off in the distance, a hugh structure. A monolithic mansion, that was more than just a building. I was in awe at its apparent greatness! It literally held my gaze and drew me closer. It’s sheer beauty struck my soul as each specialized brick proclaimed its own elegance. Embedded throughout were gleaming plaques lavishly engraved with the names of honor to immortalize its prestigious builders. Such luxury and opulence, there was nothing common to be seen in this place! Trying to venture closer yet, my attention was suddenly turned back to the Path again; then I saw what looked like smoke.

Further up the Path, just off the side a spell, was a camp. A camp of people, setting up camp! Tents going up and tents coming down, all at the same time. People mulling around, organizing this and organizing that. Some were starting little camp fires and some were fixing food, all into the activities of a camp. Scattered throughout the area were many such camp sites, full of people. Some staying in groups within the camp, some hanging around the fringes waiting for an invitation to come on in. But, all were very preoccupied in camping. Strange as it may sound, the Path was always right there along side of each camp. Every once in awhile a few would pack up and head back out onto the Path, by two’s, threes, or foursomes. Not many ventured off alone from the camp. Some looked as if they would never leave the camp; they has settled into it so securely. These were in for the long haul and had claimed their piece of the camp personally.

Swinging my attention to the other end of the Path, into my sight came people running blithely in such stupendous freedom. Effortlessly running and talking at the same time, each jogging along with obvious joy. Some were calling to others to join them, some beckoned with waves of the arm. Some didn’t care and just shot ahead of them all, faster and faster they went, till out of sight! A few would back track and try to join with others. It looked like each was enjoying the run as much as the company of the others. Not a one looked tired or sweaty , or even drained, from the continuous exercise. All must have been well trained athletes.

Seeing a valley come into sight, was next. It was full of trees and the Path stretched along side a stream as it made its way through the trees that became a forest further on. All looked peaceful, but the ones on the Path in the valley were walking very slow and meticulous. Each step, by step was heavy and purposeful. Little talking was heard and each person on the Path did not look up much. Many took long cool drinks from the stream and splashed the refreshing water onto their faces. This seemed to revive them so they continued on, looking toward the end of the valley ever so intently.

Next came a mountain and many people were scattered everywhere on the Path. Climbing, climbing, climbing. Each looking earnestly to the top of the mountain. It was a good thing they had the Path to follow, since the mountain was vast and it would have presented a much more difficult task. Thankfully the Path was well kept, so each traveled steadily upward. Many held staffs in their hands and used them to lean on to help maintain their balance. The staffs appeared strong and useful as they dug into the Path and helped each one gain more ground and keep their feet sure on the Path in front of them. None stumbled or fell, but progressed step by step. It seemed that rest was not thought of, just the strong determination to get to the top of the mountain persisted in each person.

Once at the peak, each would linger in small groups where they would smile and shake hands and share some of their experiences along the Path. Never too many cluttered the mountain peak, since new ones would constantly arrive. No one even sat down to rest. Each seemed eager to keep their pace going and start the downward trek to the bottom of the mountain. Again, these must be some more athletes. Just watching them seemed exhausting to me, but I knew deep down inside it wasn’t even phasing them! Another great sight to behold.

As the Path left my sight, I returned back into my chair contemplating with the Lord. What on Earth did I just see? It all happened in just a few minutes, yet it felt like it had been much, much longer. Was that a mini vision? Was it a vision at all? My mind had travelled into a supernatural scene. My mind had travelled? What on Earth!

No it was not of this Earth… it was a special revelational truth that set me free. Never again have I questioned this one or that one. .. this Church or that Church. I tend to the Path that is set before me! Hopefully I can share a few miles along the way with a few dear friends. But, I remain ever so thankful for The Path that was shown to me and the truth that set me free - free to keep on going!

Use Personal Coaching to Acquire Eye-opening Results

Filed under: Health Hub — admin at 2:40 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Life Coaching is a therapy that has become incredibly popular over the last 9 years. The term lifestyle coaching first became beloved in the USA where, together with Neuro Linguistic Programming, it became part of a redesigned wonderful wave of truly proactive therapy techniques. Stop smoking easily with a lifestyle coach.

In many ways both Coaching and NLP are an answer against certain aspects of the person-centred therapy movement, in particular Humanistic Counselling. A criticism of the person-centred therapy approach is that it is greatly reactive and not really proactive. Although all that works spectacular with some folk, with others long periods of no exit in sight or low return for time and effort occur. Lifestyle coaching and NLP are both humanistic therapy in stance, spending effort on improving a person?s smiles rather than delving into the depths of childhood, like traditional therapy. Their emphasis is, however, deliberately proactive and used to make you happy.

Performance coaching is not about preaching to the coaching client what to do. This is a common misconception. Some coaches are quite successful in their business careers and then make the change to success coaching, thinking that they will merely be required to divulge their pearls of fantastic wise wisdom with the client. This is more like mentoring an apprentice in a specific environment. Lifestyle coaching is instead about life as a holistic view.

Even though our lives progressively moves forward on occasion it has a way of working what seems to be in a backwards motion, yet in the end achieves the same results. I remember years ago when I started my bodybuilding career, I had no self-confidence, poor self-esteem, and an introverted personality. I couldn’t fathom doing what others believed I could accomplish in such an unusual sport that went totally against my nature. However, at first I thought, “I didn’t want to let them down and what if they’re right? What if I could accomplish something if I set my mind to it, I asked? What if by believing in something bigger than myself would allow me to be a better person, develop confidence and be more outgoing?” Then over a period of time the belief others had started to rub off in me, combined with my work ethic the rest became history.

I really don’t want to compare myself to a horse, but in the movie “Sea Biscuit”, a similar experience takes place. Four men from all together different backgrounds come together with a hope, a prayer and a horse of all things. They believed that with a little direction, Sea Biscuit would accomplish great things and surpass immeasurable odds. So inspired by a few (who happened to be going by the seat of their pants), Sea Biscuit began to believe he too could do great things. The thing is, this horse didn’t know nor did he care that these four men combined had only a hand full of horse sense (no pun intended). They believed in him and that was all that mattered. As Sea Biscuits confidence grew his influence upon those around him did also. Through Sea Biscuits determination and pure heart many who followed him began to believe in themselves in the midst of a depression and many hardships. In some crazy fashion this horse began to change the lives of thousands of people all because a few men came together having a sense of purpose, a little hope, a lot of prayers and a horse to get them there.

If an animal like Sea Biscuit could influence people, can you imagine what Jesus Christ can do with you? Hebrews 11 says, “that our life with Christ is built upon what we believe not by what we see.” At times in our Christian walk we need those around us that believe in Christ, in us and have a little faith even when we can’t see our future. Hopefully, if you are willing, sooner or later that confidence rubs off and we take hold of Gods will for our lives. That’s why small groups and close Christian friends are so important in our walk with Christ. Other people can be the glue that holds us together when at times we seem to be falling apart. As in horse racing so it is in our life with Christ, it’s not the start that counts it’s finishing strong.

Never underestimate the power of small groups and close friends. If it weren’t for small groups, close friends and people who believe in me, there have been times during this past year, I don’t know what I would have done without them all. Never turn down an invitation from God to fellowship with a close group of friends, participate in an ABF class, or just share some quality time praying and believing in something or someone. Those four men never knew how far a hope, a prayer and a horse could go, but with God all things are possible.

Rejoice!

(midi suggestion - He Has Made Me Glad)

Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him.

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice. O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice. The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel. For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Praying with Expectation

Filed under: Religion Tips + More — admin at 9:21 pm on Monday, October 27, 2008

Did you know that expectation is the key to receiving all the good things God has for you? It is written, “Whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe you receive them and you shall have them.” (Mark11:24)

Believe you receive, or expect! What good does it do to pray without expecting God to answer? You might as well be talking to a tree. The Bible says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Heb 11:6) Faith, belief, expectation are required to receiving what you desire in life.

I see a lot of good Christian people pray to God, asking something from Him, and never doing anything on their part to bring it to pass. God will do His part, for sure, but we are required to do our part as well.

What is our part? Believe, expect, confess, and anything else that could physically be done on our part. “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:20)

I believe God’s heart aches when you are hurting in any way. He wants you to be happy and enjoy your life and you should have the things you need and desire. Besides, it is our duty to prosper? 1 Thessalonians 4 says, “Increase, more and more, aspire to lead a quiet life, mind your own business, work with your own hands, walk properly toward those who are outside, and lack nothing.”

Go forth and prosper, as God would have you do.

Pope must return Temple treasures!

Filed under: Religion Tips + More — admin at 7:43 pm on Monday, October 27, 2008

The Jews have prayed for 2,000 years to again see the Temple upon the Temple Mount. It’s past time for prayers alone: ACTION is necessary to put faith into practice!

Let the Muslims submit to the Word and Will of God concerning the Temple Mount. It’s sole purpose is to House the Temple of the God of Jacob-Israel, that all nations may come to know, love and obey the God of Abraham.

May they agree the Rock of Abraham has been preserved by the “Dome of the Rock,” and that it was created for the Jews to continue their worship upon the site of Israel’s Temple. It has served its purpose and now it’s past time to restore spiritual sovereignty to the Jews upon the Temple Mount that they may build the House of Prayer for all peoples to come and worship.

May the Jewish leaders repent of their woeful neglect of the Temple Mount and end Jerusalem’s abomination of desolation - a Temple Mount without a Temple!

May the pope encourage Judah to obey God and build His Royal House, His Heavenly Embassy, in the noble spirit of King Cyrus, and restore the Temple treasures to Jerusalem.

May the Vatican release the silver, release the gold, that Rome stole from Jerusalem!

May they immediately return the Menorah to stand again where it belongs: upon the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, within the Temple! The Vatican chambers will have served their purpose of protecting and preserving such consecrated items for this time.

Let construction begin and may all nations and men seek and find the Great Creator God of the Bible, the God of Israel, and learn of His Word and ways and be blessed!

Old World Perishes In Flood

Filed under: Religion Tips + More — admin at 2:39 am on Saturday, October 25, 2008

Young Christians in the world today are bombarded with all types of “scientific proofs” that “prove” that the biblical record is just a collection of stories or myths and could not possibly be true. Many believe that no Bible doctrine ought to be taught in our schools today but only science be offered even though our forefathers believed that the Bible should be the first book in the last book out of any educational institution. Today the ones that would stop all biblical teachings quote a separation of church and state as being the valid argument that no Bible teaching should be brought within our halls of education not understanding that those words are not contained within the Constitution and our forefathers simply wanted to prevent any state recognized or official religion. I believe that the theory of evolution is actually much more a religion than any accurate Bible teaching for there are many religions and many theories but there is only one Truth.

The student today is faced with many dilemmas in that science proves that the age of the universe goes back billions of years and yet Christians today still for the most part wrongly teach that the Bible speaks of the world being created in six days about 6000 years ago. This is simply not what the Bible teaches even though it does tell us that Adam was made, formed and created about 6000 years ago. Let’s take a look at Genesis and see what the Bible really teaches:

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Here in the first chapter in the first verse of the Bible, God instructs us that He created the heaven and the earth but it does not tell us how long this took nor does it say that the work was not completed. The word created is an interesting word, it is the Hebrew word bara and it means to create or to now have something where there was nothing. So the Bible instructs us that where before there was nothing now there is heaven and earth. Then God’s Word says:

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

There are many things about Genesis chapter 1 that should have arrested our attention immediately. First is the word was for in the Hebrew there is no verb “to be” and the importance of this can be shown if we turn to Isaiah 45:18.

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

God says he did not create the heaven and the earth in vain but formed them to be inhabited yet in Genesis chapter 1 verse 2 God tells us the earth was without form and void. These words in the Hebrew language are tohu and bahu and are always translated nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness, ruin, emptiness, void. In Isaiah 45:18 these words are translated vain and we see that God did not create in vain He created with the design for them to be inhabited. If He did not create the heaven and earth in vain but formed them to be inhabited then the word was is a bad translation when used in Genesis 1:2. The word translated was in Genesis 1:2 is the Hebrew word hayah and means became which would be the correct translation. So the world was not without form and void or in vain waste it became that way and then God set out to re-establish it. In all the following verses the Bible does not say God created (bara)but that He said (amar) or commanded and it was so and it was good. The reason for this is because things needed to be brought back together and their components were already in existence having been created earlier they were now in disarray or chaos and so God set about to re-establish them which took six days. From this work He rested on the seventh. We have another reference to this in the New Testament its in 2 Peter:

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Some will say this is talking about the flood but that is not what the Word of God says for the world then did not perish but the waters receded. If the truth of God’s Word was taught in our schools today than all would fit, science and Scripture, for dinosaur bones, ancient geology and astrophysics all which say the world is billions of years old would agree in perfect harmony as they must with the wonderful Word of God.
