Numerous states like Denmark do have serious limitations on online gambling and recent laws will as well require heavy taxation on gambling business like 888 and Party Poker if they desire to set out into the market place which is gauged to be worthy 2 billion euro a year. Bigger nations like Italy will of course sustain greater markets and so will be more magnetic for the large on-line gambling casinos to participate into.

Let People Knock Themselves out

Filed under: Best Gambling, Games, Have Fun — admin at 12:43 pm on Monday, January 25, 2010

Last week, I found that sometimes if you wait, your online poker opponents will knock themselves out for you. I was playing with some pretty cold cards, and was sitting as the low stack for the majority of the poker online tournament. Through some pretty tight play and a few well-timed bluffs, I found myself in the top twenty. Unfortunately, I looked around and realized that I had the lowest stack at the table. As I folded the series of bad cards that came my way, I saw opponent after opponent go all in and get knocked out. After few rounds of this, I found myself at the final poker online table, where yet again, I was the short stack. I won a few hands, folding mostly and checking at the big blind, and after doubling up once or twice, I found myself on the bubble. I was getting ready to go all in with A-8 suited. I was actually hoping to buy up some more blinds and sit out for a while. As I was pondering the move, I noticed that one of my smaller-stacked opponents was counting his chips, so I checked. He went all in and someone else called, so I folded. He lost, and I was in the money! Sometimes it pays to just sit back and let everyone else do the work for you.

Hand Analysis: 7-Jack

Filed under: Best Gambling, Games, Have Fun — admin at 7:54 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Jack seven is a great example of what is known in online poker as a garbage hand, a junk hand, a hand not worth a dime of your money or your time. Junk hands are junk because there are very few kinds of textures of flops that you can hope for to make a hand worth putting money in. The jack seven does not very often make a straight (you’d have to hit exactly 8 9 10) and even then it is not the nut straight.

You might get lucky enough to flop two pair, but your two pair will always be vulnerable to better two pairs, or to three of a kind, which will end up costing you a lot of money. Really all you can hope for in the way of the nuts with the jack seven is to flop a full house of J J 7, or 7 7 J, which is pretty much like playing the lottery over and over again just hoping that any day now you’ll be able to pay your rent.

The rarity of these online poker cards hitting the proper flop, when meshed with this questionable ability to actually be the best hand when they do hit it, make them no better than a hunk of junk you’d find on the road. You’d be better off playing with a joker and a deuce, because at least then they’d call it a misdeal. Remember this when you play poker online.

Online Casinos : Simulating Real World Play

Filed under: Best Gambling — admin at 4:45 pm on Monday, January 11, 2010

Many people around the world play at online casinos, and that’s fine if it’s your only source of gambling. However, online casinos are nowhere near as close to the real thing when it comes to simulation. Take Craps for example. The casino determines what number rolls by using a random number generator. However, just how random is random? If you have been in a casino, you know that every single person at a table has a unique rolling pattern. Some stack the dice and casually vault them into the air. Others shake them up and rocket them to the back wall, while other frequently launch the dice off the table or fall short of the back wall. There are even players who change their rolling pattern every roll or point.

An online casino does not have the ability to simulate this. Sure, they can manipulate the random number generator, but there’s still no way to accurately simulate table action. Having programmed, I know that a random number generator is not all that random. Worse, if the computer simply “picks a number”, it is not even a proper setup to being with. Let’s keep looking at Craps. Does the casino have a random number generator that simply picks a number between one and twelve? If so, all the numbers have an even shot at coming out, which is against true probability. Perhaps they list out all probable combinations and then the computer selects one. This would be a little more accurate, probability wise, but it still lacks the real randomness of live actionand weird events are more likely to ensue.

What I’m about to tell you is true and happens more frequently that one would imagine. A tester recently played at an online casino (Craps) to monitor number frequency in the field. Within the span of just 150 rolls, the computer rolled 11 non-field numbers in a row and then followed it up a handful of rolls later by rolling 12 non-field numbers in a row. What’s the big deal you ask? Well, first, the field has a 44.5% chance of winning on every roll and second; the probability of throwing 11 non-field rolls in a row is .0015%. The probability of throwing 12 non-field numbers in a row is .0008%. These events should happen once every 667 rolls and once every 1176 rolls respectively, yet both where seen within a handful of rolls from each other within the 150 rolls monitored.

But wait, there’s more. Within these same, now historic, 150 rolls, a six was not thrown for 13-16 rolls 5 times. The probability of not throwing a six 13 times is 14.5% (9% for 16 rolls)this happened 5 times in 150 rolls. The same happened to the eightin factthere were two instances where an eight was not thrown for 18-20 times. The probability of this happening is 5-7% and it happened twice.

When you add all of these things together, you get a more accurate picture of just how unrealistic random number generators are for simulating real casino action. I am not trying to scare you away from playing. In fact, money can be made and fun can be had at online casinos. However, you need to realize that you are playing in a different environment with different rules. You can’t go chasing bets thinking they are overdue, mathematically, to come in, because this is a different world with a different way of producing outcomes. Playing strategies that you would use in a real live casino might not be applicable in an online casino. Read more at WiseBettor.com.

Video Poker Machines: Machine Overview

Filed under: Best Gambling — admin at 5:56 am on Thursday, December 31, 2009

With the increase in the popularity of poker over the last few years, more and more players are turning to video poker machines to satisfy their poker playing sweet tooth. Players have found that not only is video poker relatively easy to learn to play, but it is also a great way to hone real life poker skills. As a result, the video poker machine has been placed in an ever increasing number of establishments.

One of the most appealing aspects of the video poker machine is that the odds of winning are some of the best you’ll find in a game of chance. Video poker comes in just below Craps and Blackjack in the odds-of-winning department. Along with good odds, the video poker machine gives players the chance to take their time in making decisions, which allows the player to develop a strategy on the fly.

At a glance, the video poker machine could be mistaken for a slot machine, for they tend to have the same basic shape. Slot machines are a game based solely on chance, while with a video poker machine player skill comes into the mix. Although the slot machine and the poker machine both use the element of random display of images, the poker machine allows the player to keep and throw away chosen cards.

One of the first things a player should do is to look at the payout schedule of each machine considered for play. Look to see which machine pays out the best for each combination of winning hands. Just because the machines are located in the same area doesn’t mean they all payout the same.

In order to play video poker, the player must know how to play the regular game of Five Card Draw Poker. If you already know how to play Five Card Draw Poker at the poker table, then you will be quite at home on the video poker machine.

Video poker machines accept varying amounts of coins, with the general range being between one to five coins. The machine pays out on a winning hand based on the amount of coins used. More coins equal a higher payout on a win. Therefore, it pays to always use the maximum coin allowed on your chosen machine.

After coins are inserted into the machine, and the player hits the ‘deal’ button, cards are dealt out in a random fashion, just as if the player were in a real poker game. The player is dealt out five cards on the screen. The player then uses either a ‘hold’ button to choose the cards to keep, or uses a ‘discard’ button to throw away unwanted cards.

Most video poker machines make use of the ‘hold’ button, but always be sure which button your current machine uses. It only takes a second to glance at the controls, and it might save you from losing your first hand due to a mistake.

Once the choice has been made of which cards to keep, the player then hits the ‘deal’ button again. The player is then dealt out a number of cards equal to those that were discarded. If the player winds up holding a winning hand, then the video poker machine pays out relative to the payout schedule.

Chasing Hands

Filed under: Best Gambling, Games, Have Fun — admin at 11:19 am on Friday, December 18, 2009

We’ve all seen that guy-he’s all in without so much as a pair, but he’s one Spade away from winning the online poker hand. He’s pulling out his hair as the river comes, while his caller with two pair leans back in (relative) comfort. Chasing an online poker hand is a mistake that every player makes every now and then. The difference is that the best players do it rarely and when they do, they do it a cheaply as possible. The players who tend to lose are the ones who make it a habit of investing chips in hands that they probably won’t hit. If you’ve got 9-10 and the flop comes out 8-6-King, your heart’s going to skip a beat. You’re one card away from an almost certain victory, and you still have two chances to get it, but there are only four cards in the deck that can help your poker online hand. It’s rough to be so close, yet so far from a winning hand, but it’s important to not let yourself get sucked into the pot, especially if you’ve got a bunch of aggressive opponents at your table. If you find yourself chasing a hand, try to see it without investing any chips.

First Buy in

Filed under: Best Gambling, Games, Have Fun — admin at 11:16 am on Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Your first buy in at any table is the most important, mainly because it gives the first impression of how you play. This is a kind of metalevel concept in poker that you can use if you have a buy in to spare. You start off your game playing super tight, only the top four casino hands. About an hour in, you add some more cards to the mix and start playing other good cards. Remember, this isn’t about winning yet. Eventually, you’ll start evolving your play to the extent that you’re playing every other hand, regardless of the cards, essentially you become a calling station. This will get the astute players attention and the tourist won’t notice, but they’re not the ones you’re having to outplay anyway. Finally, you become the maniac, when you’re about half stacked from your initial buy in. You raise with nearly any two and you call down a lot of online poker hands with much worse. On your final hand of the table, and hopefully you’ve gained some chips by now to make it look great, you take the worst hand you can get, 2-7 or something similar and raise with it under the gun. Now before you do this, you go back to your tight folding strategy. When you get that raise UTG, since you’ve loosened your image, you reraise all in. Whatever the outcome, you show your cards. And talk about confusion. From tight, to calling station, to maniac, to insane duck hook raiser. Then you buy in again, and you play your TAG game, and you take their money.
