Mac or PC? What to Buy
Probably one of the biggest decisions you will need to make when buying a new computer is whether you want a Windows based system or an Apple Mac.
While both of these systems are personal computers, Macs and Windows based computers run on different systems, sometimes with different systems, hardware and software that is not always interchangeable.
The two systems have been primarily developed for very different things and this should be taken into your consideration during your purchase. Windows based PCs developed as office machines, for multitasking, running spreadsheets, word processors and emails, such as Microsoft Office 2007. While the Macs still perform all of these functions, they have long been the main stay of the media savvy, designed for heavy media use, such as CAD or music production, although Apple is somewhat behind when it comes to gaming.
As all Mac computers come from one company, they have had a very strong design aesthetic that continues today. Sleek and slim, Apple’s computers have long been seen as design icons. PCs have come from many different companies and traditionally have not had aesthetic appeal, although that is changing with PC manufacturers understanding that people want something attractive to sit in their homes.
As for cost, Apple products tend to be more expensive than a similarly specced Windows based computer.
